Ms. Kim worked in the Theatrical Marketing and Consumer
Products divisions of Warner Bros. Studios for over
eight years, handling all facets of legal
and business affairs for both domestic and
international territories. She ran Legal
and Business Affairs for Warner Bros. Pictures
Domestic Marketing for the past three
years. In that capacity, Ms. Kim worked on virtually
every major motion picture promotional
deal for the Studio, with corporate partners such
as Coca-Cola, Kraft, General Motors and
Heineken, and oversaw all legal matters for the
theatrical marketing campaigns conducted
by the Studio, including films that have become
franchises exploited through sequels,
home video, and promotions/merchandise licensing,
such as The Matrix, Harry Potter, and
Scooby-Doo. While in Warner Bros. Consumer Products,
Ms. Kim worked extensively with the merchandise
licensing and promotions groups, both in
the United States and abroad, building
brands around famous properties such as Looney
Tunes, Batman and Superman, and was appointed
General Counsel of the Warner Bros. Studio
Stores prior to the operation being merged
into the licensing division
Before Warner Bros., Ms. Kim was a
transactional lawyer in private practice, representing international and domestic clients
in real estate and corporate/financial transactions, and served as general counsel to
Kajima Development Corporation, a U.S. subsidiary of a major Japanese construction and
engineering company. She clerked for a federal judge in the Southern District of
California after graduating from Columbia Law School, where she focused on intellectual
property and international law. She majored in Asian Studies at Mount Holyoke College
(B.A. magna cum laude) and is conversant in French and Japanese.
Ms. Kim currently sits on the Board of Governors of the
Institute for Corporate Counsel. She recently chaired the Corporate Law Departments
Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and previously served on the
Association's Board of Trustees.
