Ms. Raines has appeared in stage productions on both coasts and in numerous independent
films in Canada and the
US. Since her move to Los
Angeles, she's played
a supporting role in
"Personal Vendetta,"
starring Timothy Bottoms
and Mimi Lesseos, as
well as having been featured
in a series of independent
productions. She played
bit parts in Stephen
Frears's "The Grifters" and
Paula Abdul's music
video "Knocked Out." On stage in Los Angeles her most notable roles have been: Blanche Dubois in
"A Streetcar Named Desire;"
a Witch in "Macbeth"; a
murderous maenad in The
Bacchae; and Olive, the
slob, in the female version
of Neil Simon's "The
Odd Couple."
Ms. Raines is an accomplished
performance artist and performed her poetry in NYC nightclubs
for six years before moving to LA. She was featured regularly
at the Pyramid, in it's heyday, and in the first 8 Wigstock
festivals. She staged a one-woman show at LaMama E.T.C. and
performed at CBGB's, Danceteria, the Peppermint Lounge, King
Tut's Wah Wah Hut, the World Stage, and The Tunnel, to name
a few NYC venues. Kennon has performed her poetry at the
Toronto Film Festival and in independent films in Montreal
and LA. Other poetry appearances include London, UK; Paris,
France; Boston, MA; Dallas, TX; and Atlanta, GA. She was
a member of LA's first poetry slam team to San Francisco
in '93. In 1994, Ms. Raines produced, directed, and performed
in the Hollywood production, "The Naked Word," a theatrical evening of nude poetry. Presented in a 99 seat theatre, it featured
7 poets ranging in age from 23 to 83, live music, and bared
feelings.
Currently, Kennon is
working in the studio on a cd to present her newest lyric,
LUVOLUTION!!!! She's spent the past two years performing
at peace rallies and working with the peace movement in Los
Angeles. PEACE & JUSTICE NOW!!!
